“Show some respect for the fallen defenders, leave them to rest peacefully, do not touch their ideals,” stays in the emotional message published in the Croatian weekly. We fully forward it:
“We were again shocked and deeply moved by the statement of the current President Zoran Milanovic. The removed symbol board from Jasenovac was moved to Novska with the agreement that it would be placed as a part of the memorial place. It has not been placed yet there as a part of the existing memorial place, but is next to it, because there is the alleged question whether their names will be engraved in the memorial place or whether that memorial board will fit into the memorial place.
My brother was killed as a 20-year member of a lawful HOS unit, which has its legitimate character, a unit that was already integrated into the Croatian Army at that time. He willingly became involved in the war, like many young men, in defending his Homeland and had the purest ideals for which he laid down his life. We are shocked by the fact that the President of the state belittles those ideals, that the same Milanovic, as the Supreme commander of the Croatian Army, treats the fallen Croatian defenders, in that way, his dead army. After all, we can only tell Milanovic: because of your duty, you should show more respect and feelings for all the volunteers and other members of the victorious Homeland War Army who laid down their lives to defend the Homeland, you should show more respect and feelings for their families. Of course, also to the living members of the victorious Croatian Army. They have managed to maintain their integrity and no one can find them crimson. They and my brother honorably fought and died for this country, and we have nothing to apologize for to anyone, as well as all his fellow soldiers.
My brother Miro died while rescuing his brother in arms Slavko Jagar, a Slovenian, together with the other brother in arms Davor Milakovic. Miro was struck by the sniper, Milakovic by the hand gun, as far as I know, and Jagar was cruelly tortured. It was November 29, 1991. ”
